As a real user, I tried it and found that it works best when used in a dry state. It's like a faucet; if you just rub it on the surface, it spreads like a matte finish, but after rubbing it all over, you need to wipe the area with something like a car wash cloth. Then the shine comes back like a mirror. For those who say it doesn't work, try it yourself like I did... it will become like new.
